The government's $100 million equipment replacement project for the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana has began. The project involves the re-equipping of 13 of the 24 theatres in the hospital as well as the rehabilitation of the Laundry and Catering Departments of the hospital.

With an investment of $10.5 million dollars, President Leonel Fernandez this Wednesday inaugurated the new addition and equipment of the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternity Hospital, in the East Santo Domingo municipality.

This center was equipped to provide maternity and children services to patients and counts with 75 beds distributed over three floors, with an area of 3,400 square meters.

Dozens of people with congenital deformities, cleft lip, burns, and other afflictions were evaluated for surgical operations, during a day organized by the Renacer Foundation and the Medical Aid for the Children of Latin America (Macla).

The streets of the recently inaugurated Padre Billini Hospital, reconstructed and equipped by IBT Group, were filled with people seeking an evaluation from Dominican and North American doctors.

The president Leonel Fernandez and the Ministry of Health inaugurated the Padre Billini Hospital, founded on the 19th of June, 1879.  The pioneering hospital, located in the Colonial Area, was under restoration for approximately two years.  Almost completely rebuilt and reequipped, the project required an investment of 570 million pesos.

The remodeling was executed by IBT Group, with financing obtained from Deutsche Bank and the Anonymous Spanish Society, within a commercial credit clause.

The president of the republic, Doctor Leonel Fernandez, admitted this Wednesday during the inauguration of the Padre Billini Hospital feeling proud of the progress and advances in infrastructure, institutional reform, and service for users of the health system during the last five years.

They finally finished the hospital!, exclaimed a patient when she saw that workers were painting the facade of the Padre Billini Hospital in the Dominican Republic, under reconstruction for more that two years and due to open this Wednesday, February 1st, 2012. The project was undertaken by IBT Group and financing provided by Deutsche Bank, Anonymous Spanish Society, within a Commercial Credit Agreement.

The remodeling and modernization of the Padre Billini Hospital will be inaugurated and put into service to the public at full capacity on February 1, 2012, after undergoing through reconstruction and equipment by IBT Group.

According the a note, the Padre Billini Hospital, founded by Priest Francisco Javier Billini on the 19th of June, 1879, is an institution whose primary function is to offer quality medical services to the neediest people in the country.

The new hospital in Bugaba, one of the largest health projects being built in the Chiriqui Province, is 32% complete.  The work is being executed by IBT Group at a cost of $35 million dollars.

Raul Cedeño, representative for IBT Group, indicated that the project will include not only construction, but also the equipping of different areas with the latest advances in medical equipment.

The three health centers within the Charles de Gaulle City of Health, where the Ney Arias Lora Hospital currently operates in North Santo Domingo, could be inaugurated between April and August 2012. According to the supervisor of Public Works for the country, Luis Sifres, the three facilities, a maternity, a pediatric, and a general and specialty hospital, will add approximately 667 beds to the national health system in the Dominican Republic.
